A professional critic drew flak from readers for suggesting he liked The Tale of Despereaux even more than Pixar's Ratatouille. That's heavy stuff, yet The Tale of Despereaux is a surprisingly heavy movie. I'm not sure I agree with the review, but Despereaux tells such an honestly charming story that one day I just may be crazy enough to nudge it over Pixar's own rat story. As it stands, The Tale of Despereaux is the second best animated movie of 2008, beaten only by Wall-E and outclassing even Bolt.

Expanding a short book into a long movie is often trickier than condensing a long book into a shorter movie, and in both cases, the creator of the movie runs the risk of losing focus and alienating the book's fans. Where the Wild Things Are is no exception to the rule. And because the original was such a short book, director Spike Jonze tackled the painstaking task of expanding the original's subtext. The result is stark and uneven but still a heartfelt mix of beauty and energy.
The movie follows the exploits of young Max, who for all intents and purpo

Not only is it an important piece of animation history and Walt's personal favorite, it is the

Probably the closest you can get to going on a drug trip without messing up your body, but Disney's Fantasia is more appropriately described as an animated trip through a museum of classical art. Despite not having a narrative structure, Fantasia still remains a deliriously dazzling feast for the eyes and ears. It is especially attractive to fans of classical musical, which I count myself as. However, Fantasia isn't some random collection of classical pieces set to haphazardly collected animation sequences. It's a careful selection of some of the most famous cla

I saw a Youtube rant about Twilight and someone mentioned the pairing of Bella and Edward as Bedward. So I suddenly got the idea to look for Deviations of Squidward as Edward. Lo and behold, there were some. XD
